Civic Awards

It is three years since the Truro Civic Awards Scheme recommenced after falling to the wayside during Covid. A group of individuals met, discussed and realised the importance of recognising the excellent work that so many people, of all ages, undertake in their own communities for the betterment of those who live there. It was then decided to recommence the scheme in 2023. Since then, recipients from the age of 7 to 95 have received a Truro Civic Award.  Each year, from September to December, nominations are sought from across the whole spectrum of volunteers within Truro and its parishes.

They are all considered and discussed by a committee each January, to determine which are worthy of receiving an award. Each nominator and recipient are made aware of their award and of the presentation evening which is held in the Truro Methodist Church every March. From personal experience, I am aware of the recognition and pride it gives to those receiving a Truro Civic Award. Our community recognising the work of those who work hard supporting it. What a fine tribute that is.
